I have been working as an artist for over 40 years, living many different lives: as lecturer, illustrator, artist’s book-maker, curator and forester. I work with photography, text, moving images and 3-D objects. 30 years ago, writer Judy Kravis and I  started Road Books. We have collaborated on many publications, several of which are the result of conversations — with children, firefighters, independent thinkers, and people in the street or in the park. Recently we started an artist’s residency at Road Books with artists and writers coming from all over the world to work on their creative practice and participate in our Garravagh Eco Project. We have planted 30,000 native trees. All these endeavours have had a profound effect on my creative practice. We engage with M.A. Art, Permaculture and Sustainable Planning students who regularly visit our land. We host events and performances that further complement the range and diversity of artistic practice. See  www.roadbooks.ie    

I am interested in work that is provocative, humorous, intuitive, conceptual, aesthetic, and collaborative.

Work has been exhibited, published, projected, performed, broadcast and commissioned, nationally and internationally. My practice has always been diverse: I’m not chasing the same hare. As they say – every force evolves a form. Imagine if you knew how your life was going to pan out. Well, I don’t – and that’s what intrigues me the most.

I never thought I would be living here in Ireland, pressing keys on a wireless keyboard, watching words and images appearing and disappearing effortlessly on a screen in front of my eyes.

I like work that blurs boundaries between fact and fiction, and has the capacity to engage both the eye and the mind.
